About Plumfield

Plumfield is the place to find all the gifts so good you hate to give them away.   Whether you need the perfect birthday surprise, a special something for your new love, or just want to treat yo'self - let Plumfield's curated collection of independently designed and American made goods be the first place you look.

Plumfield was founded by Kari Adams, a Southern girl in New York City.  The shop is a mixture of those two regional ideals - the homemade and the cutting edge.  Kari grew up with sewing patterns, knitting needles, and family heirlooms made with love.  She also worked for and studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology where she met a collection of contemporary makers (and realized she was better at finding talent than jewelrymaking!)

She is also the founder of a wedding planning company The Handmade Event, which lead to a deep devotion to stationery and paper goods.   Though Plumfield is her main focus now, she can be persuaded to talk about wedding invitations any time (letterpress forever!)

As for the name - Plumfield is the name of the house inherited by Jo March in  "Little Women", Kari's favorite book.  Kari feels a kinship with Jo - cutting her hair, moving to New York, and falling in love with a writer.  Plumfield seemed the perfect name for her own new adventure.
