I am the Granddaughter, Daughter, Niece, and Cousin of military servicemen and women and so I am glad when any opportunity comes along to say "Thank You" to our Veterans.
Despite what we might feel about the battles our troops are sent to fight, I know that we can all appreciate the brave men and women who sacrifice time with their families and put their safety in jeopardy to protect the freedoms of our citizens and others.
I think that it would be lovely if we all said "Thank You for your service" anytime we see a Vet so I was happy to see 1canoe2's Military Cards. They are the perfect thing to send to the soldier, sailor, airman, or guardsman in your life. Whether for Veteran's Day coming up on November 11th or when they are out on deployment, a thank you note would be appreciated.
Beyond these cards, which are great, I want to reach out in real life as well - because my family sets such a great example. My Aunt, after an impressive Navy career of her own, shakes the hand and thanks folks she sees with military insignia. My Grandfather, after serving in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, always stopped to talk to soldiers young and old - from new recruits who benefitted from a scholarship he founded, to fellow old-timers whose numbers became fewer at Memorial Day ceremonies. I want to follow their lead and say "thank you for your service" whenever the opportunity presents itself, and I hope that you will too.
